| The 2008 Follow The Leader Awards dinner
and reception was held on March 26 at the Radisson Hotel, Utica Centre.
Eight individual
awards and four business awards were presented. Business Awards were
presented to two business with 50 or few employees and two businesses
with 50 or more employees. This was the first year Leadership Mohawk
Valley has presented business awards for Follow The Leader. Brenda Episcopo of The Peacemaker Program served as the events Emcee while Peter Perkins of SUNYIT and Debra Kessler of M.A. Polce Consulting served as award presenters. Richard Sebastian, Jr., President/CEO of Human Technologies Corp. presented the keynote address. He spoke of people in his life that made him think and appreciate the gifts they have given others, which has helped him to assess his life and leadership skills. The speech was well received and served as a reminder of the many important influences in the lives of all past, present and future leaders. Nominees are usually graduates of LMV and have demonstrated excellence and leadership in the workplace and/or the community. LMV’s selection committee has the responsibility of evaluating and selecting the award recipients.
